Who We Are
SkyLake Properties is a small asset-based investment firm that specializes in real estate. We have a deep knowledge of the Mid Atlantic market, oversee over 28 million in assets, and manage a portfolio of over 150 units in the region.
Since 2012, SkyLake Properties has grown significantly on a sustainable basis over the past decade. As we continue to grow, we are building a small business consulting service in conjunction with people from state and local universities.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

SkyLake Properties is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team in Maryland for a part/full-time internship. These internships are a great opportunity to get hands-on professional experience in the real estate industry.

VACANT POSITIONS
Location: Columbia, Maryland
Type: Part/Full-Time
Pay: Competitive Hourly Wage ($13.5-19.5/hr)
Your duties & responsibilities:
- Assist in office administration tasks (mail management, invoicing, business communications)
- Real estate site items – marketing of units for lease or sale, meeting county compliance inspectors, and assist in basic property work (locks, smoke alarms, etc.)
- Organize online and offline network functions to build the businesses’ investment network
- Co-work with professional team members, such as property managers, real estate brokers, account and media specialists to drive business goals
The qualifications we’re looking for:
- Can carry out day-to-day business tasks
- Can travel locally up-to 35 miles
- The ability to communicate effectively and interact with colleagues, clients, and vendors
- Obtain relevant professional certification, such as real estate sales licensing
Location: Columbia, Maryland
Type: Part/Full-Time
Pay: Competitive Hourly Wage ($17-25/hr)
Your duties & responsibilities:
- Assist the Property Management Team – conduct property inspections, move-in and outs, tenant showings, etc.
- Assist the Real Estate Broker – tasks range from all phases of buying and selling properties
- Assist the Maintenance Manager – help with basic residential rental maintenance
- Active interest in property systems – plumbing, air conditioning, and electrical
The qualifications we’re looking for:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Can travel locally up-to 35 miles
- Pursuit of professional certifications, such as Real Estate Sales Licensing, Home/Rental Inspection Licensing, Trades or MHIC state certification – this position prepares the intern to enter the real estate industry as a professional
Location: Columbia, Maryland
Type: Part/Full-Time
Pay: Competitive Hourly Wage ($13.5-19.5/hr)
Your duties & responsibilities:
- Work with business leaders and local elected officials on real estate matters and engagements
- Conduct and write research notes on a wide range of topics: county level zoning laws, veteran affairs, affordable housing, shelter system, etc.
- State and local level small business advocacy
- Work with:
- Small businesses, state and local departments, industry groups, and academic researchers on real estate topics, including: urban planning, community development, and housing accessibility
- Position prepares intern for a future in government and related industry
The qualifications we’re looking for:
- Interest in real estate and civics
- Can travel locally up-to 35 miles
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
